Eclectica pages

The word ‘eclectic’ apparently first came into use in English in the late 17th century to describe ancient philosophers who drew on ideas from different systems in developing their own philosophies. It derives from the Greek word eklektikos meaning ‘selective’ or ‘picking out’ (Concise Oxford Dictionary). There are so many sources of inspiration that have gone into writing the Vangelis Skouras books. The ‘eclectica’ pages on the website ‘pick out’ and are dedicated to a few of them: to Greek ingenuity in arts, crafts and food and to the particular character of place and the natural world found in Greece. I hope you will enjoy browsing.

The website launches

Today sees the launch of the website dedicated to the Vangelis Skouras mystery trilogy and all things Greek that inspire it. I am currently working on book three Fishing With Fire while under coronavirus lockdown in London. Staying up to date on what is happening in reality is very important, but I confess it can be a relief to escape to the world of the books, remember and imagine better times under Greek skies. My hope is that when the books are published they will offer a safe harbour, an inspiring port of call for readers in which they can stock up with supplies to feed the soul on the uncertain voyage this life can present. There are so many books that have been that safe harbour for me. Time, I think, to revisit Tony Hillerman’s wonderful Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee mysteries set in the Navajo Nation.

My sincere thanks to Jim Kent of Brighton Web and Print for the skill and imagination involved in building this site and teaching me how to use it – no small task in itself.
